This week’s anime is going to be a weekly post that I will start covering what anime I watched that week. For the most part it will be one anime series a week unless I feel the need to post more than one. Seeing as I watch anime everyday I thought it would be a good idea to share what I watched that week and give brief thoughts on it. This week’s anime is Tokyo Ghoul
Ken Kaneki through unforeseen circumstances finds himself thrown head first in a hidden war between Ghouls and Humans. Ghouls are creatures who live among humans hiding in secrete their true nature. They feed on human flesh in order to survive, have super strength, enhanced speed and senses. Fighting the Ghouls are a group of federal agents called the CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul). They Use special weapons forged from Ghouls Kagune which is an organ that gives them a special predatory weapon. Half Ghouls who can be the children of a Ghoul and Human interaction or in Ken Kaneki’s circumstance made by transplanting Ghoul organs into a human tend to be more powerful than regular Ghouls.
Having to deal with this new reality for him he finds out that he has lost his appetite for normal human food and is now craving human flesh. He is taken in by Ghouls who somewhat stay neutral in the war and are trying to live peacefully with in secret with humans. These Ghouls run a coffee shop called Anteiku. It is here that he learns more about Ghouls and is taught how to survive until he decides to take part in the conflict.
Tokyo Ghoul is one of those anime that I thought was going to just be all action and gore. I was surprised to find out it is in sense several different types of stories wrapped up in one. In part a love story, political, morality, and survival. It is a great anime that will get you caught up in each of the characters lives and will have you questioning whose side you take in the end.
